2 Day Workshop
Statistics show that almost 50% of New Zealanders will experience mental health challenges at some stage in their lives. It is also reported that 1 in 4 New Zealanders are currently experiencing mental health challenges. Mental health challenges are not limited to particular groups of people, they can affect us all whether personally or within our family, workplaces, education settings and even on the sports fields. New Zealand has one of the highest youth suicide rates in the OECD.
Standard MHFA workshops cover a range of topics including depression, anxiety, psychosis, problematic substance abuse, non-suicidal self-injury, suicidal thoughts and behaviors, panic attacks, traumatic events and other situations. The evidence-based programme is backed by robust research, and the Aotearoa New Zealand adaptation was informed by people in the Māori, Pacific and rainbow communities, those with lived experience, and clinical advisors.
Attending this course will improve the understanding of mental health challenges, increase confidence to offer initial assistance, increase the likelihood of early help-seeking and reduce the stigma and discrimination around mental health.
